Roma, Lazio Jun 1, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - Italian guitarist and composer Andrea Zacchia invites listeners on a musical journey suspended between memory and imaginationan unreal place that somehow feels intimately known. May 30th, 2025, marks the release date of his second album, Anemoia, the first under Filibusta Records. This contemplative, groove-laced exploration of modal jazz and post-bop is built on the dynamic energy of a Hammond trio, featuring Pietro Caroleo (Hammond organ) and Maurizio De Angelis (drums), and is guided by a profound sense of nostalgic imagination.
"Anemoia is an album conceived from the desire to express a part of me that drifts between real memories and the imaginary world. It's the sound of certain sunsets seen from a meadow, of a gentle breeze that catches you by surprise while lost in thought, of adolescent years spent jamming rock in a rural rehearsal room. (Andrea Zacchia).
The term Anemoia derives from the ancient Greek ánemos ("wind") and nóos ("mind").
For me, Anemoia is a word that perfectly encapsulates this musical journey: a nostalgia for a time I never lived, yet one I feel deeply every time I play these notes." (Andrea Zacchia)
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Federico Palmieri at Fusion Music Studio in Monterotondo (RM), this album dynamically navigates between open structures and powerful interplay. It's a sonic landscape where suspended harmonies give way to rhythmically rich sections, achieving a refined balance as groove and melody elegantly intertwine.
The guitar, with a language that ranges from lyrical phrasing to sharper interventions, guides the melodic discourse and engages in a constant, intimate dialogue with the rest of the ensemble. The Hammond organ crafts rich and layered harmonic tapestries, serving as both a rhythmic foundation and as a solo voice. The drums, with their dynamic approach, underline the transitions between the different sections, accompanying the trio on a journey that alternates episodes of strong intensity with more rarefied and contemplative moments.
The songs unfold through a fluid architecture, in which the melodies evoke images of open spaces and dreamlike scenarios, while improvisation becomes the expressive fulcrum of the sound narration. The album includes original compositions alongside tributes to jazz legends, such as Sonny Rollins Oleo, Wes Montgomerys Full House, and Carl Perkins Groove Yard, in a seamless dialogue between past and present.
Anemoia is an album that blends melodic sensitivity and rhythmic depth, a journey between color, movement and memories, suspended between solid structures and passageways towards the unknown.
